Face of Addiction

Giving screen addiction a face

Problem

In the world of social media, sharing selfies play a dominant role for users to garner likes and treat it as source of metrics for their identity and self worth. So much so, it has become an addictive activity amongst teenagers.

Observation

To help users control their addiction, Instagram has made a feature where users can find out their average time spent on Instagram. However, there’s more that can be done.

Insight

It’s difficult for teenagers to realise the harms of their social media addiction because there isn’t any physical side effects, unlike smoking and drug abuse.

Solution

Face of Addiction

An AR face filter that recognises social media addiction.

We enable teenagers to become aware of their addiction through an AR filter. This allows them to spread and share their struggles on this issue with their friends and followers, all through social media simply by using the filter and taking a selfie.
